First Time Mountain Biking in Nepal

Nepal is one of the world's premier mountain biking destinations, offering everything from easy valley rides to challenging high-altitude expeditions. If you're planning your first mountain biking trip to Nepal, here's everything you need to know.

Physical Fitness

You don't need to be an elite athlete to enjoy mountain biking in Nepal, but a reasonable level of fitness will make your experience much more enjoyable. We recommend regular cycling or cardio exercise in the weeks leading up to your trip. For longer tours like the Annapurna Circuit, a higher level of fitness is required.

What Bike Will I Ride?

We provide high-quality mountain bikes suitable for the terrain. All bikes are well-maintained and checked before every tour. You are also welcome to bring your own bike if you prefer.

What to Pack

  • Padded cycling shorts and comfortable riding clothes
  • Helmet (provided by us, but you may bring your own)
  • Gloves and sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • Layers for cold mountain weather
  • Sturdy riding shoes
  • Rain jacket

Best Time to Visit

The best seasons for mountain biking in Nepal are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). These months offer stable weather, clear skies and great visibility of the mountains. Winter rides in the lower valleys are also possible.

Altitude Sickness

For high-altitude tours, altitude sickness is a real consideration. We build acclimatization days into all our high-altitude itineraries. Always listen to your body and inform your guide if you feel unwell.

Safety

All our tours are led by experienced, certified guides. We carry first aid kits on all rides and have emergency protocols in place. Your safety is our top priority.
