Depending on the route you choose, you may need several permits for mountain biking in Nepal. Here is a complete guide.
Nepal Entry Visa
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Nepal. Tourist visas are available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at major land border crossings. The fee is USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days and USD 125 for 90 days.
TIMS Card (Trekkers' Information Management System)
The TIMS card is required for most trekking and biking routes in Nepal. It costs NPR 2000 (approximately USD 15) for individual trekkers/riders and NPR 1000 for those traveling with a registered agency.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
Required for the Annapurna Circuit and surrounding areas. Cost: NPR 3000 (approximately USD 22) per person.
Upper Mustang Restricted Area Permit
Upper Mustang is a restricted area requiring a special permit. Cost: USD 500 per person for the first 10 days, then USD 50 per additional day. This permit must be arranged in advance through a registered trekking agency.
Langtang National Park Permit
Required for rides in the Langtang area. Cost: NPR 3000 (approximately USD 22) per person.
