Trip Overview 
We ride from the city of temples, Kathmandu to the city of lakes, Pokhara, mostly on cross-country roads through green forests, farmlands, ancient towns and villages witnessing refreshing views of Ganesh, Manaslu, Jugal and Annapurna Himalayan range. We experience everything that is expected on a mountain biking ride; steep uphills, heart-stopping downhills, switchbacks, jeep tracks, dirt roads and paved roads.
 

 

Itinerary

 
Day 1: Kathmandu  (1300m) to Nuwakot (540m), 49 Km
Early in the morning, we start our ride from Thamel. We ride on a flat road for 11 Km ride from Thamel to Tinpiple which is almost switchback and at times slightly uphill. We then ride off-road on the edge of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park up to Tokha where we take a Nepali-tea break, on the way observing farmlands, watching children walking to school and experiencing local Newari communities and temples. From Tokha we climb steep uphill via the Sivapuri forest for almost an hour to Gurju Bhanjyang (1700m), from where we see amazing views of Jugal, Langtang & Manaslu Himalayan Range. Amazing downhill from here via rural villages and farmland takes us to Dhikure. We ride the final 15 Km on a paved road to Bidur (540m), Nuwakot, where we spend the night.

Day 2: Nuwakot to Arughat (608m), 56 Km
A long ride awaits us today. After breakfast, we gradually ride up 15 Km on a jeep track to Samari Bhanjyan. From here, we again ride uphill to Katunje Bhanjyang, where we take lunch. A downhill follows us to Chrangi Phedi via forests, ancient towns, and farmland. Crossing Ankhu Khola, we make our way via flat cross-country road to Pipal Gaun. From here, we ascend 3 Km steep uphill to Salyantar and then a 7 Km descend takes us to Arughat (608 m).
 
Day 3: Arughat to Gorkha Bazaar (1522m), 48 Km
We gain an elevation of 900m today, which means the whole day we climb gradual uphill on jeep track riding along rural villages, towns and forests witnessing exciting mountain views of Ganesh, Manaslu, Annapurna and Lamjung Himals. We end this day in Gorkha Bazaar, the ancient Kingdom of Prithvi Narayan Shah, from where the unification of modern Nepal started.
 
Day 4: Gorkha Bazaar to Sundar Bazaar, 36 Km
In the morning, we explore the Gorkha Dubar which lies on the top of the hill. After breakfast, we ride 12 Km downhill to Chepetar. Riding 7Km on a mixed trail we reach Palungtar. Crossing the Marsangdi river, we ride on a highway for 13 Km, we reach Sundar Bazaar. We spent the night at a local guesthouse.

Day 5: Sundar Bazaar to Begnas, 25 Km
After breakfast, we ride 6 Km uphill via Koirala Phat to Thansingh, a small hilltop where we take a tea break. A 5 Km downhill on a jeep track follows us to Bhorletar. Crossing the Midim rive, we reach Ram bazaar for lunch. Again, crossing the Madim river, we ride 12 Km to Tal Beshi via Sakra Bhanjyang witnessing magnificent views of Rupa and Begnas Lake.. We spent the night at Tal Beshi Bazaar, in-between Rupa Lake and Begnas Lake.

Day 6: Begnas Lake to Pokhara, 25 Km
In the morning, we participate in boating in Rupa Lake in a chilled ambiance of the lake. Today, we mostly ride on a flat paved road to the Queen City, Pokhara. Rest of the day at Leisure.
 
Day 7: Pokhara to Kathmandu
We fly or drive back to Kathmandu.
